Jonathan Smith’s racing career was launched on dirt bikes when the Beacon Falls Connecticut native was five years old. At twelve, Jonathan moved to the BMX bicycle circuit, where he was crowned State Champion in his first year. Progressing to go-karts, the fourteen-year-old clinched the Nite Series Championship at Poughkeepsie Speedway in NY, in the Stock Lite Division. After high school, Jonathan jumped to stock cars, and in 2006, he entered the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series, finishing as runner-up in the Rookie of the Year competition.
In 2007 Jonathan was hand selected by NASCAR executives to participate in the Drive for Diversity program where he drove four years in the K&N Pro Series East, NASCAR’s top developmental series. In 2009 and 2010 he drove for two- time Champion Mike Olsen and his Fadden Racing team. They were highly successful, as Jonathan lead the team to several strong finishes. In 2013 Jonathan drove briefly with Berg Racing in the Grand-AM Continental Tire Series.
Jonathan will be racing weekly in the premier SK Modified division at Stafford Motor Speedway in Stafford Springs, CT for the 2020 season.
